Food for Vacationing

One of the best parts of going on vacation is getting to try new foods and places to eat that you normally would never have the chance to visit! Check out a few of the restaurants and eateries we recommend whenever you’re visiting Basye!

Basye Brew Hollow

Though the name may put you off a bit, don’t let it fool you from bringing your kids to this family-friendly restaurant! You’ll find plenty of different foods here to enjoy such as salads, burgers, pizza, sandwiches, wings, and more! The best part is the remodeled basement area. With a full bar serving up an amazing selection of domestic and craft beer, there’s also a game area full to the brim with darts, pool tables, shuffleboard, and more! This is a perfect place to come whether you’re vacationing by yourself, with someone else, or with a big family!

R House Wine & Cafe

If you’re looking for a laid back meal enjoyed with a glass of wine, a laid back atmosphere, and delicious European and Latin inspired food, then R House Wine & Cafe is the perfect place for you to lounge. You’ll find a curated wine menu where you’ll find each choice is elegant in its own right. On the menu you’ll also find fantastic food prepared by Chef Gisela, where she brings a classy European touch alongside a Latin fire to their guests. Make sure to visit their website and make a reservation to make sure you can experience this wonderful place!

CaraMELized Restaurant

The first restaurant we are bringing to your attention is the CaraMELized restaurant. Founded by immigrant, chef, and USMC veteran Mel Shtanko, CaraMELized is a great family-owned and operated restaurant that you need to visit! Mel creates simple but unique food with flavor. And with his experience with culinary cuisines from around the world, he brings us savory foods with both an at-home feel and worldly flavors. You’ll find savory sandwiches cooked delectably, perfectly prepared steaks, and even to die for home-baked desserts. Located right off of I-81, it’s the perfect place to stop off on the way for sightseeing in the morning or on the way back to the resort (and there’s even an early bird special from 7 am – 8 am)!

Southern Kitchen

If you’re vacationing below the Mason Dixon line, then you have to visit somewhere serving up great southern food. Southern Kitchen is located close by in New Market, Virginia, serving up rib-sticking comfort food, perfect to indulge in while on vacation. Find fried chicken, plenty of breakfast options with grits, and homestyle dinners to feast upon. Check out the Smothered Chicken Fried Steak, great Steaks, and delicious seafood as well! At the end of it all, make sure to pick up a slice of one of their homemade pies!

Main Street Sweets & Café

Last, but not least, let’s talk about sweets. While vacation is a treat for your mind, desserts can be a treat for your tongue! Main Street Sweets & Café is a small shop located in nearby Strasburg, VA filled with great sandwiches for lunch, but more importantly fantastic baked goods. While visiting you’ll find cookies, pies, cakes, and cupcakes, all fresh out of the oven daily! If your vacation is predicated on a birthday, you can also call ahead to see about having a personal cake made! This is a great place to treat yourself to some sweets while treating yourself to a vacation!

Copper Kettle

The Copper Kettle Restaurant is the perfect place for a lunch after spending sometime exploring the near-by Bryce Resort. After a day enjoying the snowy slopes or playing on their Championship Golf Course, stop by for a great meal and sometimes some live entertainment! You’ll find delicious American style food such as delicious wings, juicy burgers, and a variety of mouthwatering entrees. Located at Bryce Resort, the Copper Kettle is just a quick walk away if you’re looking for a nice dinner spot near Stony Court!

Swover Creek Farms & Brewery

If you’re looking for rustic and farm to table, then Swover Creek Farms & Brewery is the perfect place for you to experience locally sourced and created food and beverages! Built on their farm, expect to find their own on-site crafted brews and food from locally and regionally sourced ingredients! They’re open Thursdays-Sundays, so make sure you plan a day during the weekend while you’re there!

Woodstock Brewhouse

Woodstock Brewhouse is located just off of Main Street in Woodstock, Virginia. Previously, the building was known as the Casey Jones work clothes factory, and painstaking care has been taken to retain the original building so that customers can feel the history of the place when they visit. You’ll find unique craft beer from the Brewery with seasonal changes year-round! Explore many different and tasty drinks while enjoying great American cuisine inside the amazing building. Jalisco’s in New Market

If you’re looking for an authentic place for tasty Mexican cuisine, then consider making a trip to Jalisco’s in New Market. Tacos, margaritas, and down to earth Mexican cuisine are the staples of this fantastic local restaurant. With a lively atmosphere and delicious food, this is a perfect place for a great lunch with the family.

Spring House Tavern

Family owned and operated for 19 years, the Spring House Tavern is a fantastic locals spot you should check out during your visit to the Shenandoah Valley. You’ll find a fantastic atmosphere with great food and drinks that this local watering hole. In addition to the friendly atmosphere, the food is absolutely fantastic with a variety of foods. You’ll find southern classics like fried chicken, stomach filling burgers, fresh seafood, and even Italian dishes!
